Dolgan is a True Dark Spectrobe created by Krux. It is battled near the end of Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals and serves as one of the game’s proper final bosses.
Appearance[]
Dolgan, like its brethren Dolgon and Kragon, seems to resemble a monstrous whale that is half submerged in the floor. It sports a more grayish purple color scheme in contrast to its brethren and at its sides are two large appendages that are tipped with claws. On its front, a large horn featuring a dragons head can be seen, and on its back are two vestigial looking wings or blades that poke out from the ground when Dolgan is submerged, not unlike the dorsal fin of a shark or whale. Its true size, in addition to the appearance of its lower body, is unknown, as it is fought half-emerged from a Portal in the ground.
Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals[]
Rallen’s journey to stop Nanairo’s second Krawl invasion eventually leads him face to face with Krux in his palace on Malik. Krux exposits that, after much research and experimentation "in the dark, distant corners of time and space”, Krux created Dolgan, Dolgon and Kragon out of both Krawl and Spectrobes to be the "ultimate creatures”. Seeing the Spectrobe Master as a fitting test of his creations, he summons Dolgan and Dolgon in a Dark Vortex to battle Rallen’s Spectrobes. Despite their strength, the True Dark Spectrobes are defeated in battle, though whether they were killed or merely returned to Krux’s Prizmod is unknown.
After defeating the tandem Dolgan and Dolgon in battle, Rallen is forced to face the strongest True Dark Spectrobe, Kragon.
Attacks and Abilities[]
Dolgan is the physical attacker of the duo between itself and Dolgon. Dolgan uses its claws in a 3-hit combo for its 'regular' attack and performs a charge straight ahead as a 'charged' attack. It is also capable of submerging most of its body into the ground (excluding its 'wings') to avoid all damage, it will only do this however when its partner, Dolgon, reemerges from the ground and vice versa. If Dolgon is defeated, Dolgan can sacrifice some of it's own health to resurrect its fallen partner, and again, vice versa. The two also have access to their own Combination Attack, unleashing a series of dark pillars and explosions to ravage the arena.
Trivia[]
- Erroneously, the icons that depict Dolgan and Dolgon on the top screen of their battle appear to have been swapped, with Dolgan's health icon showing Dolgon (identifiable by the large blasters at its side), and Dolgon's health number sporting a sprite that resembles Dolgan (identifiable by the large claws on the sprite).
- Dolgan is neither seen nor mentioned after Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals, leaving its ultimate fate unknown.
