Spiko (パイコロ Paikoro) is a Child Form Aurora Property Spectrobe. In Spectrobes: Origins, it is a Plant Property Spectrobe. They evolve into the Adult form Spikan and the Evolved form Spikanor. Their fossilized forms are known as Spipods.

Appearance

Spiko is a small, deep green reptile that is covered in thick down or growths, which look like pinata 'fur'. A significant feature of this creature is its large horns, which seem to be made up of multiple rectangles and smooth triangles. It has three pink toes and bright red eyes, along with a small yellow diamond for a nose. Its tail is about half the length of its body with a large sphere at the end, having bumps and spikes covering it, as well as a distinct yellow double 'S' pattern.

As its tail is dextrous, it often displays its emotions though tail movements in animations for all 3 games. When happy, Spiko raises its entire body, supporting itself off the ground by the mace-like tail end. When idle, it rolls the appendage from side to side. The muffled voice it had in Origins may be due to the fact that it has never been seen opening its mouth.

Webisodes

A fossil form of Spiko's Dark Spectrobe counterpart, Pikos, makes a brief appearance in the Spectrobes video series. At the end of episode 14, Pinorska's defeat results in it reverting back into a Pikopod.

Name etymology

Language Name / Etymology English Spiko Distortion of "spike" Japanese パイコロー Paikoro Half-portmanteau of 「スパイク」 (supaiku) and the onomatopoeia 「ころころ」 (korokoro), the sound of something small rolling.
