Wiki Adoption Edit

Hi. Your contributions look good and I have given you admin and bureaucrat rights. Good luck with the wiki! -- Wendy (talk)@fandom 01:27, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Hey. Thanks for the edits you made on the kubaku page... didn't know how to do this template i think. :)

Thanks ^^ Edit

Thank you for helping spectrobes wiki and adding and re-editing the info pages that I did ^^.

Helping people know their favorite video games or anime even better ^^ 20:17, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

May I please become an admin or moderator on this Wikia? I'm asking because I know a lot about Spectrobes and I can obtain images for pages.

~Valentin 98

Did not know Edit

Srry about that, I though you are a spectrobe fan like me. ^^0

Anyways, um, its been awhile since I chat with an another Bionicle fan outside of the Lego website. Just wondering how many Bionicle sets do you have?

um are all your 14 sets are from the same group (Mata, Mahri, Metru, etc.) or different groups?

I got the names here :

The person who made that Walkthrough the link above leads to said that he got them from this site :

Weird thing is, I can't seem to find those names in the second link I posted...

MOCs Edit

I had one which was the unknown Rahi that roamed in Metru Nui (I use the books to figure out what it could look like...) and another in Legoland CA, which wasn't finish because my little sister took all the Toa pieces and the Mask of Shadow from the "Make your own Bionicle" boxes that were on the tables in the Bionicle Creation Zone.

While my little sister and I were in the Bionicle Creation Zone in Legoland...........

I love the funny part when I was making my MOC with my little sister in Legoland. At the same time, a young boy (maybe around 8 or 9) with his mom were making a MOC Bionicle of theirs across the room on an another table (there is three tables on each side of the room). He saw us trying to figure out what to make out of the Bionicle pieces then moments later, I notice he was watching us making our MOCs so I kinda glance at him and he responded by turning around and asked his mom "Mommy, can girls play with Bionicle?" The boy's mom didn't reply and also didn't realized we were in the room until her son asked her. She glanced at us and was kinda surprised (or shocked) to see us "playing with Bionicle that was mainly something a boy would play, but not girls". After a few min. she and her son quickly left the room (I guess maybe because she couldn't give her son the right answer or don't want him to ask her that question again or something lol)

You like Bionicle too? Cool.

A couple of days ago, the following Wikia Contributors had completely messed up the Spectrobes Wikia Homepage... (deleted ALL of the content on the Homepage) (wrote something in another language about Spectrobes on the Homepage)

Fortunately, I had fixed the Homepage by undoing their edits. Also, sorry about posting pictures of Pegatinum on the Kaio page. They look a lot like each other. O_O

Also, can I please be administrator on here? I'm asking in case you need more admins on this Wikia. Also because I'm on this Wikia most of the time when I'm the computer these days and I usually a lot pages and provide decent pictures for them. Also, I won't mind having the responsibility of being an admin on here. Please? (Sorry if I'm bugging you a lot about this, I only want what's right for this Wikia.)

More people are vandalizing this Wikia. Here they are...

Samueljoos - Added fanon information instead of canon information on Spectrobes by making the True Krawl and Dark Krawl 2nd pages.

Also, another Wikia Contributor had vandalized the Spectrobes Wikia Home Page. I'll give you the number that appears when you view his User Page once I get it.

~Valentin 98, October 16, 2011 18:26 PM

Here's the Contributor who had vandalized the Home Page (yes I fixed the Home Page). Also, another Contributor had vandalized the Gelberus page, but I fixed the Gelberus page as well. - Vandalized the Gelberus page. - Vandalized the Spectrobes Wikia Home Page.

~Valentin 98, October 16, 2011 18:33 PM

A user on here, Samueljoo (probably Samueljoos), had vandalized the True Dark Spectrobes page by adding fanon information to it. Just saying.

~Valentin 98, October 30, 2011 18:56 PM

Samueljoos keeps adding fanon information to this Wikia. He keeps adding fanon information to this Wikia by making pages such as the Fan:Dark Krawl 2nd and Dark Krawl pages. PLEASE make sure he stops doing this.

May return and become active here and maybe in Bionicle wiki too Edit

Its been a month after i finally found two Lego Bionicle sets from the 2009 toy line. I decide to come back and see what going on in here and Bionicle wiki. I read some of Val's messages so now I wonder "Maybe i should come back and help out edit the pages before more random people start adding their own fandom into the pages." The thing is that I haven't played the Wii Spectrobes: Orgins for almost a year, but I will try my best (with a little help from DS guide books ^^0) and help out.

Gabriella Marie has been vandalizing the Wikia by adding non-accurate images on here, by harassing me, and by spamming on the pages. Please tell her to stop. Thanks!

Main Page TweaksEdit

Hello, my name is Nic and I'm a member of the Wikia Content Team. To guarantee that your main page continues to function with Wikia's coding/ad policies, I need to make a few tweaks to your main page. Just thought I'd let you know. - Wagnike2 16:22, November 18, 2011 (UTC)

 ???Help Please??? Edit

Hi I am a new member(megarallen) and I really need help finding the xi cube on the first spectrobe game, its the only one i need to get. i'm sorry for any intrusion but i'm in trouble in the game otherwise (also if you could help me get any spectrobes card input codes that would help too.). spectrobes is my life. this site has helped me alot, thanks, and this is all I need for now.

Look, can I please become an administrator on here? I will gladly take the responsibility of being one and do what and admin needs to do on a Wikia. I want to be an admin on here to protect this Wikia from vandals. So, please? Sorry if I'm bugging you about this a lot.

~Valentin 98, January 2, 2012 14:48 PM

Thanks. I'll do my best. I guarantee it.

Krawl TemplateEdit

I decided to make an Infobox Template for the Krawl, but I want to know if you agree that it can be used. Here's an example of it and the template's form.

Morale Booster Edit

Hey. Brandon here. I've been doing some stalking on you; apologies in advance if that's not okay. You seem to be a very profilic Wikia editor. Not bad... Remember that random people (like me) appreciate your writings and rely on it for handy reference.

TL;DR: Keep up the good work. Brandon Pow (talk) 20:08, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

Game Guides entry rewrite Edit

I made a blog post that I hoped you could spend some time reading. Basically, I'd like your help to rewrite the Special:Promote page to help fix the Game Guides app entry which we currently have, because all the other (currently defunct) ones also have no cover pictures. ...and I'd like some new editors to keep me company. Thanks. I can't do it myself as it's admin-only.

Can I (Please) Be Admin? Edit

Ah, it's me again, Brandon. May I be an admin on this wiki? If you make me admin, I'll make sure to:

1. Fix the Game Guides layout for the Spectrobes Wiki to at least include categories for the game

2. Change the background. So far 5 users complained about it

3. Delete pages instead of resorting to redirects (like the Shogyo page, for example)

4. Take care of vandalism and blocking more rigorously, since I check back every two days or so

Please consider it, since I'm already in college and can find time for the wiki. Thanks. Brandon Pow (talk) 05:45, July 8, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks So Much Edit

Thank you! I'll work hard to keep this wiki running. Brandon Pow (talk) 01:12, July 9, 2013 (UTC)

About the Portal Page Edit

Original Message:
Why exactly did you decide to do this?"
"-Toa 95 (talk)

Uh... I'd like to create a little space to feature fan art that's not on the main page of a Spectrobe. The core idea came from the Monster Hunter wiki; if you never heard of a Lagiacrus before, would it be easier to Google 'Lagiacrus Fan Art' or just click a link while you're on a wiki page? Also, it'll probably give fans another reason to contribute to the Wiki.

For everything I bring here, I ask for permission via FB, and I've made a copyright template. Working on our wiki's general disclaimer to cover up any legal loopholes, but not today as I'm busy. I've sent an email to Staff, though, to see if I'm doing everything right.

If this fan art thing is absolutely intolerable here, please stop me now as I've put in quite a bit of effort at this point already. But the separate portal idea is good, right? No fan art on the main article (like the Daigyo piece a few months back).

Thanks for reading. Brandon Pow (talk) 03:43, July 13, 2013 (UTC)

Original Message:
Well I suppose I don't have anything against fan art, and the wiki probably doesn't have any sort of rules against it. Plus, at least it's in a separate portal page rather than being in the main article, or a main gallery portal page...
And I'd like it if you would give me a link so I can see where you got the idea from...
-Toa 95 (talk)

Thank you very much for not making me drop this endeavour. I appreciate it! Uh... The Monster Hunter wikia has portal pages for almost all of their monsters, for example, the Ceadeus[1] and Rathalos[2]. There are boxes at the top of the articles with subpage links, for all those extra things. That's where the idea came from. About the fan art, well... That's entirely mine~

Brandon Pow (talk) 10:49, July 13, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I did search for the Monster Hunter Wiki to see where you got the idea from first, but I thought you meant they actually had a fan art portal, so that's why I asked... my bad...

It's okay, no harm done, right? And keep up the proofreading! I'm amused at how much work you got done here lately. Listen... I was thinking of making the front page more... new-ish, with tabs and all. What do you want to maintain from the Main Page? (Like that 'thank you' section, maybe.) When I figure out the code, I'll post it, then you can choose to revert it or keep it. How's that sound? Brandon Pow (talk) 13:53, July 15, 2013 (UTC)

Just A Notifier Edit

Hey there, just to let you know a couple things. 1. The CSS for the front page is colossal! I've got a better idea than just rearranging the boxes (think game tabs), but still working on fixing the coding, I want it to work well. So please wait a little longer, thanks. 2. I've got a new other wordmark that I'll apply in a couple hours from this message. Tell me what you think. 3. Wow, you're really making full use of your summer break! 200 edits in half a week?! I'm going to have to keep up. But I guess I'll stick to making pictures for the time being. We need more of those. Brandon Pow (talk) 02:04, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

By the way, how did you get the Favicon?

In Origins, there is a colourless Spikan logo in the Database at the Patrol Cruiser. I took it out and changed it a little to make it easier to see. Um... currently the Spectrobes Fan Club Wiki is also using it (insert copyright rant here), but I've gone out to offer to make another favicon there. It'll be done soon, so no worries. And thank you very, very much for the work. It means a lot. Oh, yeah, one more thing, should the wordmark have a background, like the Origins title screen? That'd make it all blue, but it's a suggestion. Brandon Pow (talk) 05:33, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

(And why do you bring up copyright for them using it when we don't even own the logo ourselves?)

I haven't started saying a word about it yet~ But well, having 2 wikis with the same favicon is confusing. I'd just want for the best.

And the new wordmark... I really like the new wordmark. Practically identical to the one I had in mind (The "Spectrobes" part with stylized text saying Wiki, pretty obvious stuff), and a few added details (the other Origins-based stuff). It really is great. How exactly did you make it?

Aw, shucks. It's Photoshop. Been training with it at Community Central by making custom wordmarks for other editors. Glad you liked it! Brandon Pow (talk) 05:58, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

It really is an amazing looking wordmark.
You've really been doing a lot to make sure this wiki looks visually amazing.

Aww, that's the nicest thing I've heard since I started this project~
I think we make a great team; I supply the pictures, and you keep the article content prim and proper. Oh, and congratulations on having this Wiki's WAM score shoot up 20 points to 76.51 (#1037) from last week! I've already brushed up the Special:Promote and Special:GameGuidesContent pages to allow the Spectrobes Wiki to appear at the bottom bar of all articles as an advertisement, there seems to be a slight glitch on the display picture (that should come out awesomely), but I've recently contacted Wikia Staff. They seem to like our efforts, too! Keep it up! Brandon Pow (talk) 09:59, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

edits Edit

i have noticed you have been making a lot of edits, but i cannot see any differences in the pages?

A Bit of Wordmark Talk Edit

Hey, there. Forgive the above message (by User:Tmason101), I haven't taught him how to sign Talk Page messages. So... he suggested that we replace our current wordmark with Spectrobes origins logo-1, but I want to get your opinion. Also, do you suppose we should host at least one walkthrough on this wiki, since the Game Guides app specifically calls gamers to look for those here? We are encouraged to put tips on the character pages, so if you've discovered something new about Zappira's special attack or Gafing's weakness (for example), don't hold back, put it there! Brandon Pow (talk) 01:45, July 20, 2013 (UTC)

Done! Edit

Mr Bureaucrat (I think that's a nice name), the navbar has been whited out at the text section. Hope that's okay. Oh yeah, we are officially at our peak! WAM of 81.03 at #819! Whoo! EDIT: You'll have to hard-refresh with the cache reloaded. Ctrl + F5 for Chrome, I think. Works for me~

Well, here are a few announcements.
1. The problem with the Special:Promote page has finally been fixed! And it looks pretty, too.
2. I will not be around from the 3rd to the 18th of August. Taking a break.
3. What else do you suppose the Main Page needs? Also, Wikia Staff require it that advertisement coding be added to the top and right panels. Sigh. Brandon Pow (talk) 13:49, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

Main Page Edit

...I think I messed up the Main Page. Any thoughts? The navbar whiteout positioning needs time; maybe tomorrow.

You may have heard but I have contacted Disney Interactive Studios for some HD concept art and pictures for every spectrobe. my aim is to make sure every spectrobe on the wikia has a decent photo. They said the'll get back to me within three buisniess days or longer because of the school holidays. I'll let you know when i get a reply from them.

Tmason101 (talk) 17:07, July 24, 2013 (UTC)

(Insert Header Title Here) Edit

Original message:
Okay, NOW it's good.

Hey, I didn't know the navigation bar meant a lot to you! I'm so, so sorry for keeping you waiting like that~
If you have anything you want done on the pronto, please notify me, as I am literally swamped with work IRL.

Uh... Thank you for returning the redirect to the Child page. For a moment there, I was wondering what turned 50-over links red. Brandon Pow (talk) 05:56, July 25, 2013 (UTC)

Of Praise Edit

So that small part at the bottom of the Main Page, should it stay, or can we throw it to an Archive page or something? Because people have been asking me to add their names there. What do you think?

Zuwa Edit

I have edited the zuwa page, done a few ajustments and fixed up the table, I'm new to this sorry if i made any mistakes. If you have any editing snd stuff you need help with I'll be happy to help.

Sorry if I've Bombarded the Recent Activity page with by edits, but thats because I have been working hard on the page. I hope you like it.

Tmason101 (talk) 16:17, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

I'm adding a new walthrough section to some pages, to help people if there stuck on levels or just fo them to see gameplay. If theres a problem I'll remove the videos.

Tmason101 (talk) 12:45, August 5, 2013 (UTC)

Community Chat Edit

Since your online and I really need to talk to you why dont you PM me on communiyu chat.

Do you think we should have the property symbols next to the text? I think it can work.

Admin request 3Edit

Can I please become admin. I just realised there are many pointless pages that need deleting and categories that need renaming because:

1. There spelled wrong and

2. There name is nothing to do with its content.

and i dont want to have to always rely on others to do my work for me.

Tmason101 (talk) 16:12, August 9, 2013 (UTC)

Page Deletion RequestEdit

This page here needs to be deleted, Optoger is spelled wrong and all of the info on the page isnt true, they probably thought nobody knows whats optoger looks like because he/she spelled it wrong on google images.

This is why I think I should be an admin, so I shouldnt have to rely on others to do things for me!

Tmason101 (talk) 19:32, August 9, 2013 (UTC)

For the purpose of having a history of the wiki on the About page, could you please find out who originally created the wiki? Thanks in advance.

Aye, working on it. Give me a few days as Wikia staff need that much time to respond. Thanks~ Brandon Pow (talk) 16:32, August 10, 2013 (UTC)

History Replies Edit

Hey, Mr Bureaucrat! I finally got a response, but it doesn't seem like this Wiki was created out of interest to begin with.
According to Wikia Staff, the Spectrobes Wiki was created by an unsigned staff member, with a few active members in May 2007. The first bureaucrat here was User:Gamerdood, who was appointed by Wikia staff (according to the user rights log, the staff member was User:Angela). It was later adopted twice, first by User:M-NUva in October 2009, and then by yourself in May 2011.

...that's all I got. Really, it's disappointing to realise that we'll never know who opened the wiki, but it also explains why no 'Founder' tag can be found anywhere on this site, either. Hope this helps.

Well its certainly an answer I never expected to hear, but thank you for finding this out anyway. I'll type up a history the best I can when I get back home.
Lack of activity and an unknown creator... we really have an unfortunate history here...

D'aww, it's not too bad now. Although I do agree we've lost our chance to shine when the games were just out, we can still make good use of this place.
Also, I forgot to sign, but you knew it was me! Brandon Pow (talk) 17:39, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Walkthroughs? Edit

Before I forget, there's a walkthrough for Spectrobes published by Disney itself, with really neat map pictures. No Krawl names, though. Since we can't get ourselves a decent walkthrough yet (forgive me for not playing at all!), should I write to Disney asking for permission to put all that in Wiki markup here? Brandon Pow (talk) 18:20, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Before I write the Hitory section for the About page, did the staff give you the exact date the wiki was founded?

No dates were given at all in the email. The original text merely reads:
"Thanks for contacting Wikia. It looks like the wiki was founder by staff. Gamerdood was the first Bureaucrat assigned, and later adopted by M-NUva." Brandon Pow (talk) 06:29, August 13, 2013 (UTC)

Coding Errors Edit

Hey, a few things about formatting...

1. The other day I removed the gradient for the header for Template:Spectrobe because it didn't render for Android. Since you reverted it, does that mean I should look for an alternate coding (something along the lines of ms-gradient) instead while maintaining the look?

2. Erasing all those <br/> tags on the Main Page has now caused the link bar underneath the Main Page greeting (at Template:MainPage/Greeting) to mess up a bit. Could you revert that, if it's okay? Brandon Pow (talk) 07:17, August 13, 2013 (UTC)

Well that's certainly unfortunate to hear... no founder and not even a date of founding... I thought you meant May 2007 was when it was founded, but I guess perhaps not... but if you could ask the staff for an exact date of founding that would be nice."

Done. Waiting for a reply.

I didn't know that was why you removed that (you didn't give an edit summary or anything...). But I suppose that would be nice to do if it'll work...

Yes, I should state that the next time I play around with our code.

Again, sorry, I didn't know that was what they were for... but I already went and undid that. EDIT: Actually don't mind that. Instead I added the useful links bar to the Greeting template.

Now, that's thinking out of the box! Really, I could learn a thing or two from you~ Brandon Pow (talk) 13:24, August 13, 2013 (UTC)

I think The images look better at 250px and the icon idea was mine again, but if there less than 30px there too blury to be recognised and there no point in have them there is there another way?

Tmason101 (talk) 17:57, August 13, 2013 (UTC)

Oh yeah and can i become admin please

If At First It Doesn't Parse, Try, Try Again Edit

On the Greeting template, is there any way to expand the speech bubble's height? I'm not exactly the most wiki code-savvy person out there, and there's just one little thing that I'd like to add...

Well, you have two options. In the first one, you can go to MediaWiki:Wikia.css and edit the parameters for the bubble. Specifically, from line 17 onwards, you should see some code like this, for the bubble:

position: relative;
width: 500px;
height: 150px;
padding: 1px;
background: #FFEBFF;
border: #7F7F7F solid 2px;
-webkit-border-radius: 10px;
-moz-border-radius: 10px;
border-radius: 10px;

See the text that reads "height: 150px"? Change the values to make the bubble's height longer. Don't forget to clear your cache after changing anything to see if it works, and if it doesn't come out right, there's no harm in trying again!

But there's always a chance that things may mess up, so I'd suggest you use Bubbler, a code written by a guy named John Clifford. Adjust your bubble, then click 'CSS' on the top right, then copy and replace the code that appears into MediaWiki:Wikia.css.
...yeah, that sounds like a better option. No coding involved.

Also, as long as I'm here, I may as well ask: do you have any other ideas for anything else that could be added to the About article?

Pictures! Ah, but that's my job. Something epic, like a battle sequence between text. Word-wise, maybe a list of users people can contact. I mean, whenever I visit a wiki for the first time, I hate the fact that I have to use Special:Listusers/sysop to find an admin to talk to. Personal experience. Brandon Pow (talk) 13:07, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

EDIT: Quick question. I found two logos in Origins that I don't know how to describe, but they're both related to that always-elusive Clear property.
This one ---> Clear appears on the Clear Kryptos button in the Incubator.
This one ---> Clear (Krawl) appears to the left of a Krawl's HP bar.
What do you make of it? Brandon Pow (talk) 15:09, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

The Magical Date Edit

Email received Tuesday, Aug 13, 2013 at 11:50 PM

Brandon Pow: Sorry to disturb you again, but is there a specific date on the creation of the wiki?
Sean McGilvray: Sure. It looks like the Wiki was created on 2006-03-16 13:42:45.

Brandon Pow (talk) 15:47, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

Scroller Template Edit

Sorry if this is too much for one day, but the other day there was some talk about 'Inter-Spectrobe links', other than the ones in the Infobox.
Yes, I'm not sure about what all the fuss was about, either...
So. this could work as a template, but I can't figure out how to use the if: parser to work with images, too (that means, icons beside the names). Any ideas?
I made something called Template:Scroller (it's a great name, y'know) and when this code is entered--

|Previous Image =
|Previous Page = Spiko
|Next Image =
|Next Page = Spikanor

--it renders as follows:

Spiko Button Spiko | Toa 95 | Spikanor Spikanor Button

...any suggestions? And if introduced, do we give priority to Nanairo or Kaio listing? For example,
if Nanairo listing is prioritised, Nagu comes after Spikanor
but if Kaio listing is prioritised, Pepe comes after Spikanor I need your ideas. Coding is only half the process, apparently. For the rest, I'll need you for help! Brandon Pow (talk) 20:42, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

Symbols: ... where did you find it, exactly?

From the game, of course. It's not like I should post something fanon-related here (we have Val's wiki for that).

Scroller template: Is there any way that we could use both?

Aye, but you will now have to tell me what colour / faded background you'd like for a future Template:Scroller_(Nanairo) and Template:Scroller_(Kaio). Also, size questions. Side-by-side?

Also, how exactly does the "if:" thing your brought up work?

Three parameters go into the if parser; the parameter, text if false and text if true. I facepalmed earlier when I re-read the message, though, because we will never have a Spectrobe here without a logo. Or at least should not. Hence the if parser is redundant.

Aye, Mr Bureaucrat, no need to thank me so; just, y'know, leave me a birthday token on my talk page in a month, or keep the ideas flowing. That easily satisfies me~
Also, on an unrelated note, your talk page is so nicely spruced with pictures now. I want one of those! Brandon Pow (talk) 21:29, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

Well for the template, I was wondering if there was a way to incorporate both listings for the same template, but be able to only use both when applicable. As in, it would be divided into two sections for both listings if both database listings could be applied.

Yipe, that's tough. Listen, what I do is draw out what the template should look like before working on it, but I can't seem to visualise a good idea! Unless you sketch out something with a pencil, this might take a while. Sorry.

And for the icons: if you found them in the game's files, what were they called there?

Nope, Photoshop. Should've made that clear earlier.

And for another thing: how about a proper template(s) to display Spectrobe evolutionary lines and evolution methods, for the section at the bottom of the pages?

More artistic planning in the works. Understand that the waiting period is just mostly daydreaming for a good idea~ Brandon Pow (talk) 08:04, August 15, 2013 (UTC)

Well if we used both listings I would imagine it would be the Nanairo listing, and then beneath it, as part of the same template but divided as it's own section, the Kaio database listing. And somehow code it so that we could use either half when applicable, without dividing it into two halves.

Whoa. Okay, I spent the day thinking 'bout it, so I'll begin work for the art and coding soon. I'll update you on its progress, but don't expect too much! Brandon Pow (talk) 20:06, August 15, 2013 (UTC)

Administration Edit

Can I please become admin?

Tmason101 (talk) 20:15, August 15, 2013 (UTC)

New Page? Edit

I want to create an article on the Spectrobes video game series, and one on the series as a whole. I've decided on "Spectrobes (video game series)" for... well, the name says it all, and "Spectrobes (series)" for the overall series. Does that sound good to you, or do you have another idea?

Go for it! That will definitely be a nice add-on as a link for our Games tab in the navbar. I look forward to seeing it, and don't worry about pictures too early. That can be settled in time. Brandon Pow (talk) 06:55, August 16, 2013 (UTC)

Scroller 2 Template Edit

Hey, Mr Bureaucrat! So the coding's done at Template:Scroller2, but it's very, very bare. All we have for the 'not in Kaio listing' cover is a text, so now I need to work on a background image, two cover images to hide the left and right sides... and about a hundred-or-so sprites (to add transparency). You can take a look at the Spikanor page for a sneak peek, but it's just the coding that's passable at the moment.

...this will take a month or so to finish adding templates to all pages, at the very least. Brandon Pow (talk) 09:19, August 16, 2013 (UTC)

Now that I think about it, do you think it would be better to have two separate pages for the games series and the overall series, or would it be better to make a series page for the overall series, with the games taking one section and other media taking up another, without making a specific page for the games?

A. The second one sounds better to me; but come to think of it, you'll have to add a link for the webisodes somewhere on the "general" page. And any of our editors own the books written by Ned Lerr? That's a form of media, too. Remember to put the games under a level 1 heading, in source:

==Games== that I can add it to the navbar via hashtag link. Level 2 headings don't work.

B. Another thing: I never got to say, I really liked the webisode pages you made! All very descriptive and easy to follow. We should totally do this with Origins someday, with spoiler tags or something. Two questions:
1. Can screenshots be put there? I think just one descriptive shot for each webisode would be nice.
2. Remember Template:Scroller? I could adjust it to not force-include images, then you could use it to link between webisodes! How's that sound? ...or would you rather we use a navbox with 14 links to the webisodes? Sounds clunky, though.

C. The other day, Val mentioned about how our wiki lacked a guide on how to get Card Input items. So, the other day I was researching about the ImageMap extension, and I think I could get it to work for the Origins constellation map. You'll need to give me time to think about it, though. Will update you on its progress.

On an unrelated note, sorry 'bout the reverse scroller listings and broken talk page the other day. Really don't know what happened there, heh heh~ Brandon Pow (talk) 18:17, August 17, 2013 (UTC)

The ImageEdit

I found it on the official Japaneese spectrobes website. Can i become admin please?

Tmason101 (talk) 01:23, August 18, 2013 (UTC)

Hey there, please read the latest blog post for some stuff I need help with. Thanks. Brandon Pow (talk) 14:23, August 18, 2013 (UTC)

EDIT: Great work on the Spectrobe template! Brandon Pow (talk) 14:29, August 18, 2013 (UTC)

A Thousand Edits Coming Up Edit

I'll be adding Template:Disney Image and other templates to all the photos we have via the Auto Wiki Browser. It's something that automates edits, so I don't have to waste too much time doing this. However, this will cause a sudden flood out in Special:Recentchanges, so here's a heads-up. Also, since this will involve over a thousand edits, my edit count will spring sky-high, so I'll apply a real-edit template to my profile to clarify things. (Don't take the number too seriously, it doesn't mean too much, anyway!) Brandon Pow (talk) 05:46, August 19, 2013 (UTC)

I'm leaving for good Edit

I'm sorry but I can't continue helping out on the wki. My past has come to haunt me and I must move on. I have had great times on this wiki but I guess there now over. I cannot stay anymore, no more editsand no more:

"Can I become admin please?"

I am leaving for good. Thank you ever so much for your help on adopting the wiki and making it a better place. I will never be able to come back online again. I can't tell you exactly tell why and I'm sorry about that I can't, but please help continue spread the word of Spectrobes and keep up the good work.

Goodbye and Thank you.

Tmason101 (talk) 02:04, August 21, 2013 (UTC)

On Controls Edit

Okay, so now I've uploaded some alternative images for the Spectrobes: Origins page under 'Controls'. However, it's open for discussion: should there be just one image with condensed controls under it, or is the current layout okay?

(Whatever your desicion is, I'm sure it's better than the old table.) Brandon Pow (talk) 07:56, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

EDIT: Yipes! It's still the old version in Internet Explorer!

Good Work! Edit

Thanks for applying the Scroller2 template to most of the DS Spectrobes. I haven't played that one in a long, long time, so it's greatly appreciated! If you've already applied the sprites to the template, then they should be erased from the gallery, but do you think they should also be used on the infobox? Let me hear your opinion. Brandon Pow (talk) 04:23, October 6, 2013 (UTC)

...whenever the Scroller2 templace is applied to an article the text next to the infobox is pushed upward above it (if you don't understand what I mean, go to edit an article with the template, remove the "
" tags and press preview...). Could you possibly find a way to fix this so that we don't need the tags?

That's a real pain, isn't it? I'll try getting some inspiration for it as soon as I can (possibly involving pure-HTML tables), but give me some time.

Also, about the cries I uploaded; there's got to be a better player than the current one. Any ideas? Brandon Pow (talk) 14:36, October 6, 2013 (UTC)

Nothing that I really know of... but there has to be something that doesn't stretch the template every time it's played... Or we can just put it somewhere else... or just not have it at all...

Just not having it at all sounds a little harsh. I mean, it did take quite a bit of effort. I've got to find a solution for this. Brandon Pow (talk) 08:31, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

Pointing Out Errors Edit

Question: It seems that quite a lot of database entries are natively misspelt (not that we wanted to reproduce the errors, but...). I was wondering, since there might be absolutely well-meaning people who'd try to fix that as a typo, could we make it more obvious on how the mistake came directly from the game? I suggest a superscript cross or something. An example on how this would work:

  • CH Attack: Gorebash - "Gathers strength in its horn, the attacks all the enemies around it."

At Trivia:

  • An error in Vilamasta's CH Attack description in the database uses the word "the" instead of "then."

I almost corrected a few of these by accident, so I thought it'd be a good idea. Is it okay? Or should a different symbol be used? Brandon Pow (talk) 05:50, October 8, 2013 (UTC)

Toa can i become admin please, ive been waiting for ages and i really want to become admin.

Tmason101 (talk) 19:08, October 8, 2013 (UTC)

Just wondering, but how do you get the images for the overviews for locations in Origins?

If it's the bird's-eye view landscapes, mostly it's just screencap after screencap, followed by photomerging software (Microsoft ICE is my favourite right now).

On a different note, great idea using the "small" attribute on the Database note; it really worked well! I'm now trying to figure out why Wikia doesn't read native HTML for an "audio" HTML code I'm working on. This may be harder than I thought... Brandon Pow (talk) 14:35, October 14, 2013 (UTC)

EDIT: Goodness. Recently I checked my email, and as usual, the notification came in that my user talk page was edited. However, there was something new at the very end which read:

"Please visit and edit often..."

--which is scaring me as it's never happened before. Did you perhaps set it that way? Brandon Pow (talk) 14:47, October 14, 2013 (UTC)

Glowing Links Edit

Uh... Mr Bureaucrat, sorry if you find this too drastic but I decided to test out some glowing links for our wiki. The parameters can be found at MediaWiki:Wikia.css, if you'd like to change the colours. Should they stay, or should they go?

Also, ignore how messed up the Vilamasta custom colors look like at the moment; they're a serious pain to code and I think I need a few days for this. Brandon Pow (talk) 10:10, October 15, 2013 (UTC)

Data on Pages Edit

On our Origins Spectrobe list, Komanoto has a lot lower stats than the one listed on your user page. I was wondering, did you feed it any ATK or DEF seeds by chance? Otherwise I'll have to recalculate the base values. Thanks. Brandon Pow (talk) 05:44, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure whether I did or not... I might have, but I don't know... I only put that because that's what its stats said they were.

Your Rallen save, is it still there? Because if it were, you could simply excavate and evolve a LVL 100 Komadoros (whoops, not Komanoto) and look at the stats when you're free. I predict the values would be 999 HP, 269 ATK and 262 DEF (since its Battle Up+ ability adds 30% to those values).

This is exactly why we need someone with a game guide...

Owh. I can't find one anywhere here myself. Sorry 'bout that.

Oh, by the way, Template:Custom Color has been created out of indirect request. Hope it helps.

One more thing: I've added text to our guidelines stating that you're free to remove any duplicate images on a page (for example, that one sitting in the gallery on Komainu's article). I'm sure you'll agree that it's redundant to have the same thing twice over! Brandon Pow (talk) 14:03, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

Values Edit

So I got that level 100 Komainu...

Congratulations! And it seems that the values placed on the guidelines were recalculated (because 188/130*100 = 244 and all that). However, this has suddenly made Komadoros stronger than all the Secret Spectrobes. It's certainly going to affect other players...

We also have another problem: how many other Spectrobes have their values tampered with via ability boosts? Totsuzen has Damage Up+, Leopuba has Attack Up... this is hard to fix without reference. I can't do anything about it, though; everything I have is LVL 40 right now. Brandon Pow (talk) 06:38, October 18, 2013 (UTC)

Spectrobe Family No. 35 Edit

Toa, get this! I was going through the sound files for Spectrobes: Origins when I found an unused cry batch, between S015 (Dongu) and S016 (Spiko). As stated in the Database, there aren't any Spectrobes between them, but there were sound files for all three forms. Also, the total families in the sound batch comes to 35, but in reality there are only 34. I'm starting to believe that there's another Plant-type Spectrobe family that was pulled back before the release of the disc, and I am 100% sure it's not Kaio (since it had evolutions).

The child form sounds a lot like a wood chime, that's what I think. If only I could find a 3D render in there. I've put the file on Dropbox for you to listen, in the hope that you could identify it! Brandon Pow (talk) 13:13, October 18, 2013 (UTC)

Geos, Geos Everywhere Edit

Dude, it's a real relief that you can edit images well! Thanks for taking some burden off my shoulders and working on the Geos. They look good on the template, too.

I only recently learnt how to pixel-art... so I'll work on it, too. Do you have the full list of BTP Spectrobes in order? That would really help. Brandon Pow (talk) 04:08, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

As far as the Geos go, its not really me being good at editing...

Hey, hey, they're cool! Take it from me, I didn't see any problems with it.

Plus, the icons are supposed to have outlines... which I forgot until I uploaded all of them.
Makanoto Icon

Well. In that case, you'll want to use a harder eraser type that doesn't fade at the corners in GIMP. A good training would be with the Dark Spectrobes; those have a prominent outline (like the Makanoto over here).

Speaking of, yes, I have completed the Beyond the Portals database.

I'm really behind, then. 30% completed.

Also, is there any way we could code the Scroller2 template so that only one half (either Kaio or Nanairo) appears depending on the parameters?

In its current template, if you take out either data part, you'll still have a 670px box with empty sides. This was one of the reasons I wanted to create a separate Nanairo / Kaio template (because other wikis do that for items and stuff). Are you sure you want just a small box for some Spectrobes and a long box for others? Sounds a bit un-uniform to me, but it's your call. Brandon Pow (talk) 06:12, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

...I'm thinking that would constitute a fan edit or something, but that's probably me being paranoid.emphasis added

Oh. Okay, uh... I think it's best not to add an outline by yourself, too. They're much more complicated than a simple 1px stroke.

Plus, if its Dark Spectrobes you want, I can't really deliver on that...

S'okay, do what you can. After all, the spell-checking you do here is really important, and well appreciated!

And for the Scroller thing: we can always edit the first Scroller template to appear visibly similar to the second and use it for Spectrobes that only appear in one galaxy...

So is it confirmed that we make 2 templates? Brandon Pow (talk) 15:38, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

More on Pegatinum Edit

On the Spectrobes list for Origins, it states Pegatinum to have the so-called "Clear" Property. I tried to look for any evidence of this in the game; the Database didn't give anything, and the game simply doesn't let you pull up one of the card bios for it.

On the Clear property, we know it exists (most of the Krawl and weapons use it), but not necessarily for Pegatinum. Yeah, I couldn't put the guy in an incubator, either. I guess we have no proof of its element, so maybe it's best to take it off.

I was wondering if you could find if anything's been programmed for Pegatinum regarding its Property and the card-bio.

Oh, dear... I don't think I can do anything about that at the moment. It's also the reason why I can't give you base stats for any of the Spectrobes: I simply haven't been able to get into the coding of the game, battle-engine wise. Everything regarding the game is packed into a colossal 1GB file which has its own reader table, like a key to the game content. Don't know how to read any of it.

Sorry 'bout that. Brandon Pow (talk) 07:02, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Komanoto Family

EDIT: Question. There are 17 of these family combo images lying around in my hard drive, mostly unextracted. (Almost all Origins-sourced.) What should I do with them? I mean, they're nice to look at and all, so maybe they belong in the Miscellaneous section of the character's portal page (delete the Fan Writing text; we'll probably not be able to get any). What do you think? Brandon Pow (talk) 07:12, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

As far as reading the content of the game: do you know of anyone who might be able to?

Really sorry, I don't know about this either. My circle of friends is a tad too small, heh.

And as for the family combo images: we could always put them in the article galleries.

Oh, OK! Earlier I was going to do that, but I thought it might've been redundant to put the same image on 3 different articles. But it seems to be fine. Brandon Pow (talk) 05:23, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

Buttons Edit

What exactly do you mean when you said this:
"I just realised: we need some sort of Wii game guide in terms of button pressing; C buttons and the like."

Wow, that didn't go unnoticed. Well, I was editing the Ordeals Chamber page when I realised I couldn't explain battle basics (A button to swing a sword, et cetera) without getting too technical, but I knew we needed it. What do you propose we do, just assume all our users know Origins is for the Wii and Nunchuk?

Also, we're actually gaining some traction from old editors! This is great news! Brandon Pow (talk) 00:25, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Darwin's Coming! Edit

As you may have heard, fluid layout will be introduced to all wikis by December 4th. That means, all of a sudden, this wiki's templates that are based on pixel count (Portal, the main page greeting and other column-aligned pages (Child, Krawl et cetera) will be thrown off quite a bit. Thinking about switching to percentage values to make it less bad. Just a heads-up in case I can't edit on that day to fix things. Brandon Pow (talk) 04:22, November 21, 2013 (UTC)

Maths and EXP Edit

Hey, Toa, you think you could help me out? I've been trying to derive the formula for the EXP values in Origins, and I have 4 points. I know for sure that every Spectrobe requires the same amount of EXP per level (try unlocking all the Card Input ones at one go), but graphing it isn't helping. Here they are, in (LV,EXP) or (x,y) format:

(1,7) (16,799) (30,2791)

...and one more which isn't perfectly accurate: (34,3571)

I've tried parabolic and exponential functions, so you can skip those. Any luck? Brandon Pow (talk) 14:36, November 26, 2013 (UTC)

Well if all of them level up using the same EXP value, one of us could probably just level up a Spectrobe from level 1.

Oh. Well, let's see if I have enough minerals.

I know the game gives a Spectrobe's total EXP but I don't exactly remember off the top of my head if it tells EXP needed to level up.

Wait, really? I thought it's the opposite: on cards the EXP remainder is written, not total. (Take a look at Pepeza's card.) So the requirement, although similar, has to be calculated. But it's okay, I guess this is a bit too hard with just 4 points. I'll get to work on it soon.

Another question. I made a moving picture of Spikan's SPL ATK, Spike Wave. How do you suppose we use this? If it goes in a gallery, I must resize it to make it work. But if you'd like it to work directly in an article, it has to be of native size (298px), otherwise it won't move.

Should I add little symbols for attacks? Melee and ranged attacks are differentiated by logos on the cards, and I guess it could work. Brandon Pow (talk) 07:56, November 27, 2013 (UTC)

Equation for Origins EXP Edit

Toa, I've been trying out that 'level up from the ground' idea you gave me, and there's a pattern. The terms of EXP required per level seem to follow the formula

Origins EXP Equation

--so a LV11 Komanoto will need 397 points to level up to LVL12. (Replace "n" with the current level.) Can I make a page for EXP, since this is technically a part of the game?

Also, I've been thinking: I want to put an ImageMap extension over a map of Doldogo (much like what we have for the Card Input page) and link parts of the image to areas. Is that okay? Brandon Pow (talk) 12:24, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Thanks Toa but I'm spanish and I'm too busy working in the spanish spectobes wiki. I use to traduce the pages in english to spanish, but if I find any mistake in this wiki I will try fix it.

Hey again! I've got a few things to discuss:

  1. ...I've been thinking about the EXP formula, and even I couldn't be bothered to calculate EXP. I think I need to work on a form that generates the EXP values before making the page. Will you be patient enough to wait for a solution? I might use the sandbox.
  2. Can I ask for permission to add a "Legendary Weapon" row on the Spectrobe infobox and a "Based On" column for the Weapon infobox? We haven't hit the 10-row mobile truncating limit for it yet, and I thought it might be useful. (If you'd also like buttons for the weapons, now's the time to suggest them...)
  3. Recently there was a nice upload by User:Operator Error for the Marine Cruiser article. This is the sort of stuff I can actually work on! Do you have any more of these? I might find use for them.

Stay healthy! Brandon Pow (talk) 09:08, December 13, 2013 (UTC)

CSS and Hover Images Edit

Sorry for disturbing you ever so often, but could you take a look at the sandbox, please? I was working on a new Hover template, but it seems to only work nicely if there isn't any text after the div item (for example, on Spikanor's page). The CSS for it's looking okay, except that it won't obey the display:inline attribute. Any ideas? Brandon Pow (talk) 07:09, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

For something like its use on Spikanor's page, I just feel having some kind of a table for that would be better.

Ah, that might fix it. Busy working on a template for that, but it'll be stylised based on the cards in Origins. I'll let you know when it's done.

Also: I can't exactly get on my computer right now (doing this on my phone), so how exactly does it work?

Phone editing?'ll have to switch to the Oasis skin to view MediaWiki:Wikia.css. There's a tooltip setting, which brings about a hoverable, yellow text, and the div is contained within Template:Hover. But you know what? I'll wait until you're free to use the desktop version; it's quite hard doing these kinds of things mobile. Brandon Pow (talk) 00:47, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

Well I'm on my actual computer now (FINALLY, I feel like its been forever...)

Welcome back!

Something like that would probably be better used for those in-game text errors (like on Vilamasta), or do you think what we're doing now is better?

If you'd like, the template is compatible with just text. However this doesn't fix the problem; the div thinks it's in a class of its own and refuses to blend in with the rest of the text. (Like in the Sandbox, as an example, it will come in front of text.)

I personally think what we have now is okay.

And I was able to see it on my phone by using the normal skin.

Nice! (But then again, I need a keyboard for editing, so I can't say I enjoy mobile editing myself. Doesn't feel right.) Brandon Pow (talk) 01:16, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

Help IdentifyEdit

Mobile -

What is the species of this Krawl? Couldn't figure it out. Thanks for the help! Brandon Pow (talk) 19:25, January 1, 2014 (UTC)

It's nothing I remember.

Ah, that's okay. Brandon Pow (talk) 04:45, January 2, 2014 (UTC)

Spectrobes Sprites Completed Edit

Well, I'm glad to tell you that we've gotten all the Scroller2 template sprites for the first game! The sprites from Zoza to Mesathorn have just been uploaded; check the upload log to see the naming system. ...just had to get that out, it felt good.

Will begin work on the templates and a possible table for the Spectrobe list page. Say, can we create separate lists on the page, since there are 3 games? For example, the first 60 Spectrobes will be repeated in two tables as they are present in both of them. Brandon Pow (talk) 13:38, January 7, 2014 (UTC)

Begging for Saves Edit

Actually, I've beaten the game's "second quest." After beating it, it just goes through the second quest again when you start your file up again. So you can encounter it again.

Ah, nothing gets past you! Yes, it's true that Origins is one of those infinite loop games; my bad.

The thing is, I have never finished the game once at all. Schoolwork is always overwhelming. Say, if you have an SD card, could you give me your save? (You'll need to transfer them over via the Settings screen in the home page; everything's automated.) I'd really like it if you could! Brandon Pow (talk) 13:07, January 16, 2014 (UTC)

About Windora Edit

Hey, sorry again, but I've got another question. I was looking at the Windora cards, and since I've never had one before, I was surprised to see 3 different forms: the normal one, a Sordina and an Ortex one, all different-looking. Are they one and the same entry in the Database, or are they completely different species? Brandon Pow (talk) 13:37, January 16, 2014 (UTC) would probably be best to add an "Other Languages"-type tab to the navbar or something; various Wikis already do this...

Well, yes, but they link on the Main Page and not the navbar (examples include the bottom of the Kirby Wiki and the Monster Hunter one, although those are generic). If I may, could I add flags to the links? It's a lot easier to differentiate than text of languages.

I was going to do this already, but I'm not sure whether we should ask them about it first or not...

Just did it. Let's wait for a reply.

Unrelated note: your talk page could really use some archiving as editing it takes a truckload of scrolling; would you like some help with that? Brandon Pow (talk) 05:19, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

The navigation bar Edit

I think we have to contact with interwiki or create a alliance. What do you think? Hola soy Gjana, ¿Necesitas ayuda? (talk) 09:59, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

The navigation bar Edit

I think we have to contact with interwiki or create a alliance. What do you think? Hola soy Gjana, ¿Necesitas ayuda? (talk) 10:01, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

Regarding the other languages: that is true, but I guess I was thinking of adding links where visible...

Well, it would make it very obvious that we're affliating (not that it's a bad thing at all), so I'll let you decide. I'll figure out an wiki-link template for the Main Page in a bit.

And regarding archiving, I was already thinking about it.

Great! Let me know if you need anything. Brandon Pow (talk) 12:58, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

Isadora's CardEdit

Oh, dear. No matter how many times I try to input the codes on File:Isadora Card.png, it won't give me an Isadora on BTP! Could you give it a try for me, please? Also, if it won't work, should the image be given a disclaimer? One last question: Isadora, Bakuraiya and Kibatekka (the 3 BTP hidden Spectrobes); do they all come in only one colour (the card input version)?

Topics and Stuff Edit

1. I'm sending emails to people on whether they have the remaining cards we don't have. Naturally this means I should at least ask you once, too, so here goes: Do you own the Collector's Edition of the first game, or any card which we don't currently have? If so, do you also have access to a scanner? (School should have one.) I'd really love it if you could, y'know, put a few on the Wiki. Thanks for looking into this.

2. There are fake input cards on the Net, too. With never-seen-before graphics. Watch out for those.

3. Can I change all our Geo pages into redirects to the Ultimate Forms they exist in? Loads easier to handle. Also, all Spectrobe fossils don't have their own pages either, and Geos are technically fossil states. Brandon Pow (talk) 19:26, February 8, 2014 (UTC)

And I do have access to a scanner, so I can do that.

Awesome! I can't wait to see the new cards! Oh, and don't mind which order or game you send them from; anything is good. Brandon Pow (talk) 05:23, February 10, 2014 (UTC)

User Masthead Backgrounds Edit

Hey! I've got a few things to discuss, again:

  1. So the User Info Masthead (that section with the user details on user and talk pages) now has a colouring-book image of Komanoto. I thought something of the kind would look good, y'know, like a car decal or something. Can it stay, should it be changed, or must it go? Also, I intend to make the image different for admins (or individual users who ask) only, like a Spikan perhaps. What's your opinion on this?
  2. There are a ton of articles on the Spectrobes Wiki that can't differentiate the contraction "it's" and the possessive pronoun "its". Examples include intro text where a name belongs to a Spectrobe but the aprostrophe is present. If you come across any of those as you go along, wipe 'em out! Notice that our attack descriptions don't have this punctuation problem, as the game designers wrote it.
  3. Seems that all action on the Spanish portal just froze sometime after all the active users exchanged FB usernames. Should I go and give them a gentle nudge?
  4. I can hardly contain my excitement for the new card scans! Are they here yet?

Card List Confirmation Edit

Okay, Mr Bureaucrat, the Card Input page has been updated with some fresh images, and it represents all the images we have (I think). Just to be extra sure, are there any cards for Origins you own that is not in the list of images? Brandon Pow (talk) 13:21, February 18, 2014 (UTC)

One more thing; the coding for the individual user masthead images is now up; you can check my page for examples. So, your turn. Any picture that you'd like specifically for your page? Brandon Pow (talk) 13:20, February 19, 2014 (UTC)

Regarding the Card Input cards, the only cards we don't have from Origins that I do are of items and weapons and such...

Well, that's exactly what the page needs! Scan them (on both sides), then just upload and fill them in when you have the time. Every card counts.

And for the masthead image: I'm not really sure right now which one I would want...

Take your time; it's not urgent. Think of one that represents you well, then tell me. Brandon Pow (talk) 10:47, February 20, 2014 (UTC)

And is there something wrong with the Greeting template?

My goodness, you're fast. (I thought I'd get away with it.) Yes, there was something wrong earlier, but it's been fixed and adjusted for Darwin layout. It also has flags now! If it still looks wonky, refresh your cache. Hope I didn't worry you or anything. Brandon Pow (talk) 12:39, February 20, 2014 (UTC)

Fixed Template Edit

I think there's something wrong with the greeting template again, in case you haven't noticed...

Oh, dear, I actually didn't. It's back to how it was before now. Thanks for the heads-up. Brandon Pow (talk) 18:22, March 5, 2014 (UTC)

Flash Games Edit

Hey again! Recently I've been scouring the net for a few Flash games, and I came across one titled "gekitotu_ikusei.swf", on the Disney website, among several others. Directly extracting the PNGs from its source file gave a sprite sheet and a picture combo of 27 faces. Now, I still have one more identical sprite sheet which I will place images on respective articles (since they're bigger), but what am I to do with these? Any possibly good use for them, or is it too much work to actually create an article for all the Flash-based games Disney created? (Which, you might have guessed, has my complete favour.) Brandon Pow (talk) 16:03, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

Books & Quotes Edit

First off, it's great that you were able to obtain one of the books, and now we have that resource available to us! Did you also obtain any of the others, or is that a no?

Oh, yeah, I did get book #2 as well, after scouring so many bookstores. No book #3, though, so it's a half-victory.

But now for what I really want to say: looking at the book page and Spikan's page and seeing those quotes, we could really use an actual quote template... I'm no Wikia coding expert, and while I could just copy-paste off of another wiki I'd rather not take someone else's coding...

When you say "quote template", do you mean we should get a simple div spacer with large inverted commas, or no commas, just the holders for the text? (I've gotten lazy recently, what with all the exams coming up.) Brandon Pow (talk) 04:10, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

Ah... at least we have two out of three, though.

Surprised me to see so many copies of both books on one single shelf at Border's, out of nowhere. I'm a pretty slow reader, but I'll finish book 2 soon. Also, there are artworks in there not present in our database; will probably scan those too.

And as for the quote template, as long as it's an actual quote template, something you'd expect to find on any other wiki, I don't really mind what it is.

Template:Quote has been created. It's primitive, but be nice to it, 'kay? Brandon Pow (talk) 14:16, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

Name Etymology Suggestion Edit

I have an idea for the name etymology of Spectrobes. Instead of verbally stating that it comes from this language or that, how about use of a template and flag icons? For example, if I wanted to write about how Yagizora's name was formed, I use JP and EN flags to write:

  • Icon-English - Romanization of 山羊 (yagi, goat) and 空 (sora, sky), with z-pronounciation due to rendaku.
  • Icon-Japanese - Distortion of the katakana for the English word, rain (レイン).

How's that sound? Brandon Pow (talk) 15:45, May 8, 2014 (UTC)

I don't know... I feel like a template listing off different translations of a name works better when it's a "names in other languages" type of thing...

Oh, that sort of thing? I can kind of imagine it already, so I'll work on it and show you when it's done. However, it does seem pretty awkward that the template will only ever have two languages; English and Japanese. (The other 4 languages don't change Spectrobe names.) Also, the only other language that changes CH Attack names is German. For instance, Naguryu's Nagunokk is known there as Duohaken (lit. "double hook"). Will give you a heads-up. Brandon Pow (talk) 04:07, May 9, 2014 (UTC)

Template:Names Edit

Template:Names has been created! Example of its use can be found on Yagizora's page. It's still lacking in one way or another; what else does it need? Borders? Background? Brandon Pow (talk) 13:26, May 11, 2014 (UTC)

Borders would probably be good, or at least push the etymology text over some; it looks a bit too close to the language text...

Done. Well, now we just need someone who's played BTP in Japan to get us all the names. Just where should I start searching...? Brandon Pow (talk) 09:23, May 12, 2014 (UTC)

So your a bionicle fan too? Awesome. I have a whole bunch of Bionicles, but the only complete sets I have are the Toa Mata, Toa Nui, Bohrok (did i spell that right?), Metru and Glatorian. I even have the original Takanuva set with the machine he used to travel into Makuta's lair. Man, I thought Bionicle fandom had died out when the series ended . . . clearly I was mistaken!

~ TheFinalNote

Hi toa. I found all of those images on a japaneese website, they were the official artwork for Spectrobes: Origins. Brandon pow extracted from a SWF for me. I'm having touble finding larger versions of the images. Thanks for the edit on the tekkadorax page. The reason why I replaced it was because the artwork for tekkadorax isn't the real artwork, It's an edited one. But it's probably better off using the 2D artwork as the 3D artwork is quite small.

Affliation with Disney Wiki Edit

Hi again! If you've checked out the Wiki Activity, user Dlgirl75 has recently requested we affliate with the Disney Wiki. I recently asked for details, but probably their wiki link will appear on our home page, and ours on theirs. Would you give your permission to this? Brandon Pow (talk) 07:32, June 2, 2014 (UTC)

Possible Stats Template Edit

Take a look at the Sandbox. Any ideas? Brandon Pow (talk) 08:16, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

Krawl Reassignment Edit

Y'know how some Krawl for Beyond the Portals also make a comeback in Origins? I was thinking, let's merge the two pages into one undert the Portals name and turn the Origins page into a redirect. We could have 2 infoboxes for the same species, and people wouldn't have to click so much. Of course, if they're exclusive to Origins (Barun, for example), they won't be moved. Is that a good idea?

...oh, about that stats template, we can't have it without base stats, so I'm back to square one. Brandon Pow (talk) 08:16, June 13, 2014 (UTC)

One more thing: I feel that this is going to take a long time to complete, but seeing other wikis put logos of characters in their infoboxes, could we do that too? For example, we could have an if: parser for a Spectrobe's page that has both a Database sprite and a badge. (See Vilamasta's page for an example.) I... also centered the vertical align for headers in the infobox template. Should've done that months ago. Brandon Pow (talk) 09:14, June 13, 2014 (UTC)

Well going off of that logic, since some Krawl from the original game also appear in Beyond the Portals, we should just merge all three lists into the standard Krawl article...

Although that's another good idea, I suppose I should rephrase myself. You know how we have a page for the species, Kurag? Instead of making a redundant Kurag page, I should add a section under the Swar page instead and turn that other title into a redirect. Yeah, that sounds clearer.

I feel like the sprites should be somewhere else if they're on the template...

Maybe on the left and right of the infobox, or in article space altogether? I'm open to ideas. Brandon Pow (talk) 13:29, June 14, 2014 (UTC)

well in regards to the actual topic of discussion, I don't know... they have different names, different colors, and I don't know if they have different attack styles or not...

Well, then, the differences need only be stated on the pagespace in their respective areas. Shouldn't be too hard. I'll go along with the plan, if that's okay.

And as for the icon and badge, no idea of any actual use for them... if they're just going to be used for a tiny gallery of sprites in the infobox then we may as well just put them in the actual gallery and remove the parameter...

Well, the idea was to get rid of the gallery altogether; they take way too much space. Vilamasta's badge is related to it and deserves to be on the main article, but if it's not on the infobox, nor in the gallery, could it be placed directly in the article? Like a small divided area (or template, if it must) with the badge, price and purchasing location. Brandon Pow (talk) 10:22, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

New Template Edit

Komanoto Card

Hi Toa, I had a idea for a new template and I would like to know what you think of it. I designed it in balsamiq.  If you use it are there any changes I can make to make it even better?

Changes I have madeEdit

  • The japanese name is displayed under the english name.
  • The icon of the spectrobe is displayed next to the name.
  • Evolutionary Line.
  • Height and weight are together.
  • Rounded boxes.

Infobox Change Confirmation Edit

Okay, I think the new infobox design is the best I can do at the moment. Will you agree to replace the current infobox template with this one? I'll put up the parameters once you've given consent. Brandon Pow (talk) 16:38, June 17, 2014 (UTC)

As long as it works it's fine with me.

You got it, Toa! Will begin work now. Brandon Pow (talk) 16:44, June 17, 2014 (UTC)

Notes on Gen II Infobox Edit

I need an enormous favour: now the text for each Spectrobe in the Property and Form headers have been changed to switch: parsers. As such, only certain words will work with the template which will generate the appropriate output. For the Property string, they are:

  • corona
  • aurora
  • flash
  • fire
  • water
  • plant
  • earth
  • sky

--but if the Spectrobe has 2 properties, the DS one comes first and Wii second. Therefore:

  • coronafire
  • coronaearth
  • auroraplant
  • flashwater
  • flashsky

--are also allowed. For the Form string, they seem to sort themselves out nicely. Please help me change them to their appropriate titles in the Property line. Also, new strings have been added:

  • JP = Just copy the katakana and romanisation here, no need to italicise
  • Icon =

I've also put these instructions to Tmason in case he feels like helping out. Thanks so very much! Brandon Pow (talk) 17:54, June 17, 2014 (UTC)

Weapon Template: Change? Edit

Hey, Toa! The new Spectrobe template's looking good on most profiles. Thanks for the help. If it's okay, could I change the current weapons template to the new one too? I mean, they have icons and stuff. Maybe just make the rim of the template darker to show the difference. Brandon Pow (talk) 19:03, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

Icon PNG to GIF replacement Edit

Hey there! For quite a long time, we've been using the three files File:Corona.png, File:Aurora.png and File:Flashsymbol.png as the icons for their respective elements. The problem with these files is that they are lossy (meaning not so accurate) and their file size can be further reduced, improving bandwidth performance. From now on, is it okay if you use these 3 files from now on instead whenever an icon for an element is required?

Image size for all 3 images is reduced from 2.05Kb to 453b. (For lossless versions, it would've been a 9Kb saving, but that's not much of a deal.) I'll handle the Template:Spectrobe page. Thanks! Brandon Pow (talk) 08:44, June 27, 2014 (UTC)

Sprites for Nanairo Database Completed Edit

Finally, they're all done. The sprites are in the format PAGENAME_Icon.gif (and I think they start from the Koroko page), so feel free to help out! Brandon Pow (talk) 09:18, July 6, 2014 (UTC)

Actually, you didn't quite get all of them... you missed a couple (Troga, Trogazar, Trogallup).

Oh, jeez, you're right! Must've overlooked the last Dark-type family there. Oh, by the way, all the Dark Spectrobes' Japanese names are the same as their normal counterparts, except for an initial 'D' at the end. Brandon Pow (talk) 04:56, July 7, 2014 (UTC)

German Spectrobes Wiki Edit

I will be taking the next month or so reviving the German portal of the Spectrobes Wiki, at . The admin, Krustenkäse has been offline since 2009. It's currently in such a derelict state that I feel that I must do something about it. As such, I will be exporting a lot of the image files from this wiki, so I hope you'll be okay with that. If this is successful, we can finally add the German flag to our front page! Wish me good luck! Brandon Pow (talk) 11:29, August 13, 2014 (UTC)

Thundora Stats

Also, on my scouts around the other language wikis, I kind of found this page out of some book. Have you come across this book before? I'd do quite a lot to get my hands on it! Brandon Pow (talk) 18:40, August 13, 2014 (UTC)

Draft Art Edit

You got the permission for the draft art! Not bad. Thanks. Brandon Pow (talk) 10:28, September 25, 2014 (UTC)

Battle Styles Edit

Now, this is just another one of my ideas, but what if those icons on Battle Styles appeared in the "Attacks" description of every DS Spectrobe? I'm thinking something like this:

With Inkanapa's description as an example:

  • BTP Ramming Normal: Lunges at enemies.
  • BTP Area of Effect CH Attack: Pyrabath - "Fires flamethrowers from its shoulders, causing damage over a wide area."

The little symbols do appear in the description of the Spectrobes. Yes, it'll take long to make, and it'll be a pain to format a table on the actual article to compare attacks of all of them, but I want to hear your views. Brandon Pow (talk) 18:11, October 8, 2014 (UTC)

As long as we can tell what the icons mean, that seems fine.

All right! Templates Melee, Ram, Range and Area have been created. They're just image holders with links to the Battle Styles page. Don't rush to place them all yet, it's too much work. Maybe as you go along, try to apply the Badge template as well, if you are sure of where it can be bought. (Is there such a guide online?) Brandon Pow (talk) 16:11, October 9, 2014 (UTC)

It seems kind of redundant to have a different template for each individual icon; at that point we might as well just add the images themselves. It would probably be better to have all of them as part of one template to add them to articles or even make a template for the attacks section in general.

See, this is why it's good to ask; I didn't think of that before. So would it be cleaner if we just made one template named "Atk", then set the parameters like

--or something like that? Brandon Pow (talk) 05:52, October 10, 2014 (UTC)

Spectrobe template Edit

I've made a suggestion for some changes to the spectrobe template. It is on the talk page of the template (here), and I felt that I should tell the recently active users on this wiki so there could be a discussion about it. PartHunter (talk) 10:40, November 1, 2014 (UTC)

Secret Door Edit

I added the secret door page to the minerals category because minerals and mystery stones (which themselves contain minerals a large part of the time) are the entire content of the secret rooms and are the only reward for finding them and opening them.PartHunter (talk) 10:26, November 2, 2014 (UTC)

In that case, where else do you sugest it goes? It does need a category. PartHunter (talk) 05:42, November 3, 2014 (UTC)

I had an idea: it could be moved to Secret Room and added to a new category called "Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals locations" that would hold all the locations in that game. PartHunter (talk) 06:00, November 4, 2014 (UTC) P.S. a reply to your thoughts on my ideas to change the Spectrobe template has been made a while ago.

Would a location category work with it as a  door? it would stil technically be a location and that would categorise it. PartHunter (talk) 12:24, November 4, 2014 (UTC)

Ok. I will add it to the new category, create the category and add it to some other pages where it is appropreate.

RE: Infobox Edit

Personally, I feel like a list of stats would work better as a section in the article rather than in the infobox. I also think listing the evolutionary line works better near the bottom of the box.

Yeah, it's getting noticed!

Alright, those can be (re)moved. I'm also a bit stumped about that evo line in the Mobile skin (since I'm a regular user); only Komainu's badge displays properly, and everything else is squished to the right. It's all because of the table conversion that forces it to stay horizontally unscrollable. Maybe I should change it to type=box to let people scroll the evo box itself left and right to see the rest. Any suggestions? Brandon Pow (talk) 05:28, November 8, 2014 (UTC)

Game Models Edit

I have some good news and some bad news.
Screen Shot Krux Mask

The good news is that I've managed to go into the games files!

But  the bad news is that I can only access DGamer Models I cant find the actual game models. If can help please let me know. Tmason101 (talk) 18:46, November 22, 2014 (UTC)

Congratulations & Other Stuff Edit

As the title says, congratulations on obtaining the BTP strategy guide! I guess this means I'll have to start work on making some snazzy-looking template for all that good data, but at the moment I'm busy with exams, very important ones at that. If you have any ideas in mind, drop them into the Sandbox or my talk page.

Also, three new parameters were added to the Spectrobe template: Evo1, Evo2 and Evo3. If you have the time as you go along, do add the codes to the pages you edit. It's made in a way that it uses the "Form" text to check the current evo state, so you may type Evo1 = Sabo, Evo2 = Sabogar and Evo3 = Saboquill on all 3 pages, it'll do it automatically. It has a serious problem with non-Kaio Spectrobes, though, I'm yet to find a workaround to that. Brandon Pow (talk) 20:32, January 3, 2015 (UTC)

I set up a basic template already to record stats, basically using the code from the custom colors one. I did try to look for the original game's guide, but no luck...

One is, in every way, better than none. The basic template looks adequate at the moment.

And the big problem is that it's set up to use the Origins icons, which most Spectrobes from the previous games don't have.

Hmm... OK, how about we add parameters for custom imagery on the template? Img1, Img2 and Img3 will link images to the Evo1, Evo2 and Evo3 parameters respectively, so for the Kaio images, the best is to make it 50px/60px/50px. Not sure about the Nanairo ones, though. Check out Komanoto's page for examples! Also, please don't jump to edit all the pages yet, I haven't figured out how to do the Dark and Weapon templates yet, and I don't wish for you to do double (or triple) work. Brandon Pow (talk) 19:08, January 4, 2015 (UTC)

Pegatinum without Infobox? Edit

Just a question: is the Pegatinum page really supposed to appear without an infobox, or is there a glitch that I should look at? Brandon Pow (talk) 12:10, April 21, 2015 (UTC)

It's some sort of glitch or something, seeing as how the infobox is still on the page but it for some reason appears at the very bottom of the article.

I think the problem was because the template would not be closed given the Property value is left blank. I've added a #default parameter to make up for that. Should work now. On another note, that's quite the activity spike lately. Welcome back! (Although admins never really leave, they just hover over their wikis with a watchful pair of eyes.) Brandon Pow (talk) 17:06, April 23, 2015 (UTC)

Also, may I ask when you made a bot? (At least, I assume it was you because of the name and the fact that it edited almost right after you did.)

Gosh, it's been a while. 20th August, 2013, to be exact. The account is used to change the format of the infoboxes, but until now I don't dare to let it run automated (because I was warned it would attain consciousness and blank out the whole wiki, heh). Brandon Pow (talk) 06:46, April 24, 2015 (UTC)

RE: Models Edit

If you need them and can use them at all, then someone on the Models Recourse has ripped and uploaded the models for most if not all of the Spectrobes and fossils, and even some other miscellaneous things.

Hoo, they're beautiful. I might be able to use some of them, but it would be best to ask first. Thanks for the notice! Brandon Pow (talk) 18:34, September 26, 2015 (UTC)

The name is self-explanatory to its function, but everything on the site and its sister sites are available for anyone to use, no questions asked.

Kind of like this wiki's content, huh? Duly noted. While we're here, anything I should really concentrate on in terms of editing? Brandon Pow (talk) 21:42, September 26, 2015 (UTC)

Legendary Weapon Table Template Edit

Hi Toa, there seems to be an issue with the property section with the tables for the legendary weapons. It seems to come up as "Unknown" for each of them.

Tmason101 (talk) 20:08, October 15, 2015 (UTC)

I tried using the same code as the spectrobes template and it didn't work. Whats the code for each property?

Tmason101 (talk) 14:29, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

Krawl Template Edit

Hi Toa, the krawl table template doesn't have a rounded white box around the image like how the spectrobes template does.

Tmason101 (talk) 14:48, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

I've tried, but I don't know how to fix the spacing issue in my revision of the Stats template (Here, for example). If you could help out with that it would be much appreciated.

Done, the issue was a mix of old cache data and margin problems.

PS: Oh gosh, I have the same book. Brandon Pow (talk) 21:54, July 19, 2016 (UTC)

...Of course, if you have any suggestions for changes to the layout or design feel free to bring them up.

Now that you mentioned it, the navigation background looksfunny when the screen width is reduced. I was thinking of adding a CSS line at .WikiHeader > nav li > a to white, and removing the lightened bar in the image, something like this. Will that do? Also, I really want to change our background, but I don't have anything more relevant. Ideas? Brandon Pow (talk) 03:33, July 20, 2016 (UTC)

...If it could stretch across the entire row or if you could make it fade a bit on both ends like it does on the bottom, I think it might look a lot better.

Unfortunately, the navigation background is inline with the page's content, at most I can make it fade. I'll get the image ready and have it up in a while.

And as for the background, my suggestion would probably be just to have Rallen and Jeena on each side with a couple of Spectrobes. Not sure if that's good enough.

Aye, that might be tough to find, but I'll see what I can do. Brandon Pow (talk) 04:08, July 20, 2016 (UTC)

Merging page Edit

I propose the deletion of Spectrobes Mineral List, and the redirection to all those page calls to Mineral#Spectrobes Minerals. Is it a good idea? If yes, then the same should be donw for the other 2 games. Brandon Pow (talk) 17:36, July 25, 2016 (UTC)

Graph parameter on Infobox template Edit

Toa, on July 19th, you removed the Graph parameter from the Spectrobe infobox template. Can I hear your thoughts on the matter? If it is not necessary to have there, would you rather have it directly in the article? Brandon Pow (talk) 08:33, August 1, 2016 (UTC)

I removed the graph parameter from the infobox template to put it on the Beyond the Portals stats template instead (see: here), since I felt it would fit better there.

Duly noted.

Spectrobe Stat Template Draft Edit

There is a lot of data that nobody really has time to fill up from the current Spectrobe stat template, so I thought it would be better to put all the data in one template using #switch parameters, then just place them on all pages related to the first-gen Spectrobes. An example of it in work is on the Windora page. If this is OK with you, I'll use the AWB to do the replacement, how about that? Brandon Pow (talk) 07:59, August 4, 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for not responding earlier, but I'm not sure how much I like that idea. It's more convenient, but I'm not sure I like the idea of making everything automated.

If someone wanted to change something, they'd have to go to that page, find the proper stats, and change it, instead of having it all right there on the actual page.

You do have to remember, though, these values are constant out of a guide. Assuming they were double-checked, there won't be any reason to update them. Your argument is however very much valid for minimum stats in the second game, which we don't have. Also putting all the data on one template can damage many pages at once if a vandal got to it.

What's the next course of action? Revert 69 pages and enter in the data as per the original Stats template? (It sounds harder than it actually is, honestly.)

Another thing; I can't find a suitable wallpaper to replace our current one that meets your suggestion the other day. There just isn't anything to work with. I was thinking of using an edited version of that Komanoto and Makanoto clashing wallpaper. Brandon Pow (talk) 04:37, August 8, 2016 (UTC)

Nav Portal suggestion Edit

Take a look at the sandbox for me; I've been thinking, maybe visitors to the main page want some links to different elements of the franchise without digging through the navbar on the top. Would something like this work out? Brandon Pow (talk) 07:46, August 26, 2016 (UTC)

Hi. I am a huge Spectrobes fan and I use lots of hashtags.

don't need to thank for my edits. I do it a lot here. by the way I created the CH attack page.

User Error? Edit

So I noticed when I was adding categories to the pages without them, some pages seemed to deny the save action. I also noticed the same thing when I tried adding the Gearach500.jpg to it's page. I'm not really sure what's going on with that.

Vineclad (talk) 05:50, March 18, 2018 (UTC)

User error follow-up Edit

Well whatever the category problem was, It seemed to have gone away. So I guess that's a plus....Still can't do the image thing though.

Admin Request Edit

Hello!, I am an admin on the Spectrobes Discord server.

There was a recent vandalism to the images of the wiki. Thankfully Brandon was able to fix it. The unfortunate thing is that Brandon is not available all the time, so things like this could go unnoticed/unfixed. I would like to apply for an admin position for the reason to be able to fix vandalism as I find it or is reported to me. Brandon agrees this would be a good move. I hope we can discuss this or other options to help improve response time. Thank you,

Bubbajwaldo (talk) 15:29, February 10, 2019 (UTC)

Ad: Admin Request Edit

I support Bubbaj's request on adminship. I have been very inactive the past few months, and only caught the vandalism one day after it was done. Someone more active should be allowed to revert vandalism faster. BubbaJ is also on Discord and is very commited to his/her job as admin. Brandon Pow (talk) 01:54, February 11, 2019 (UTC)

Thank You Edit

Admin Edit

Hey, so I've been on the Wiki since 2013. I know I did have my ups and downs in the beginning (I was 13 when I first joined lol.) Was just wondering if I could apply to become an Admin, and continue to aprove the overal asthetic of the Wiki.
